JOB DESCRIPTION This is currently the WFH role, Manchester.
. How can you expect to spend your day? Reporting to the Lead Test Analyst, within the development team, the successful applicant will find themselves thrust into an extremely busy and growing department responsible for developing both bespoke internal platforms and client facing web operations.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Liaise with all levels of developers and business analysts to design and implement test scripts.

• Perform User acceptance testing for each incremental release

• Read and interpret detailed business requirements and design documentation and construct testing scenarios that ensure that adequate testing coverage of the application is achieved to ensure quality benchmarks are achieved

• Undertake regression test execution for each incremental release of development.

• Review and report testing outcomes

• Develop and maintain testing documentation

• Provide accurate test plans and testing estimates to enable the project plan to be designed

• Ensure that the test phase is completed to pre-defined quality measures

• Clearly communicate and categorise defects to the development team

• Performing System Performance Testing for each incremental release

 

What are the ideal candidate? personality and qualifications:

• Experience of testing web-based systems, including the user interface/web screen, and Web Service interface specifications

• Experience of testing Windows-based applications

• Experience of using testing tracking/execution tools

• Manual testing experience

• Designing test scripts

 

Experience and qualifications desirable:

• ISTQB certified to a foundation level (or equivalent)

• Exposure to testing in a .NET environment

• Exposure to testing in an agile environment

• Automated Testing experience

Automation QA Tester Responsibilities & Skills:

The successful applicant will be an Automation QA Tester required to help with the delivery of the automation testing, creating test plans to ensure full coverage as well as drive and lead the implementation of best practice throughout the whole lifecycle with shift left approaches as default.
The automation QA tester will own and manage all test activities surrounding automation testing, driving CI/CD and advocating a shift-left mentality through TDD/BDD, conducting regular functional and regression testing, and working with management to ensure smooth release.

This role requires regular communication with senior stakeholders so confident and concise communication is necessary to succeed in this role.

  • Provides specialist testing advice and delivery, is accountable for managing automation testing activities on projects within a program or service.
  • Working as part of a DevOps/Agile squad
  • Understands the requirements for testing within projects and agrees testing scope with stakeholders
  • Accountable for the delivery of testing activities within budget and timescale
  • Work with product owners to define acceptance criteria and the Definition of Done.
  • Creates test plan documents that address the requirements and mitigate the risks of the solution
  • Contributes to internal testing standards
  • Accurately evaluate and report test results, test progress, and product quality
  • Knowledge of automation test tools including open source
  • Agile testing in Scrum
  • TDD implementation and optimisation & BDD acceptance criteria understanding and execution
    Capable of assisting developers with unit testing & agile test members with component integration testing

  • Essential Skills and Experience

KEY SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

The successful candidate must have, and be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong commercial experience of Microsoft .NET technologies, preferably VB.NET and ASP.NET Experience of SQL
  • Experience of technologies such as o Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), Web Service Enhancement (WCE)
  • It is also useful to have excellent experience of technologies such as Bootstrap, JavaScript
    Experience of working with a Source Control and Management system such as Team Foundation Server
  • Experience of web services and other API technologies
  • The ability to work unsupervised to agreed time scales and deliverables.
  • The ability to work and communicate effectively within a team of peers and others.
  • Capturing and formally documenting requirements.
  • Demonstrably undertake full Developer Testing and participate in Code Review as part of the Software Development Lifecycle and PCI Requirements Paying particular attention to the security requirements of working within a PCI-DSS accredited environment, particularly the writing of secure code Communicating effectively throughout the development process to customers, suppliers and the PMO, as appropriate.
